How the National Change of Address (NCOA) Database Can Increase Your List Revenue

As a list owner, the money you make fluctuates with the response rates of those renting your list. The better the response rates, the more your list will be rented, which means increased revenue for you. The NCOA, or National Change of Address, can help better the response rates from your list by ensuring that more of the mail is accurate and deliverable.

Census studies report that more than 10 percent of the U.S. population moves every year. This means that, at any given time, five to 15 percent of the names and addresses on most compiled lists are incorrect. When people move, they may file a change of address with the National Change of Address Service to have their mail forwarded to them. This process is done through the United States Postal Service, who in turn makes available the change of address list for purchase by service bureaus such as West Coast Data Services, the agency used by American Name Services. They will run your file against the NCOA file and remove the incorrect data, making your file more deliverable.  American Name Services updates your file once a year to ensure that it is as accurate and deliverable as possible, guaranteeing more orders and more profit.
